Online summer school Schema Therapy 15-17 August 2023
We are happy to offer an Online Summer School on Schema Therapy, from 15-17 August 2023. This Summer School consists of 3×3 hrs filled with an interesting variety of topics, such as imagery rescripting and chairwork. Each training day will consist of 2 modules of 1,5 hrs each with a focus on live demonstrations and room for practice. Tuesday, August 15 Fine Tuning Imagery rescripting
9-10.30am CET Fine Tuning Imagery rescripting
In this part, the technique of imagery rescripting will be discussed and demonstrated in a step-by-step approach, offering the participant a detailed understanding of the mechanisms of the intervention and ways to make it more effective.
11.00 -12.30 pm CET What if…challenging situations in Imagery Rescripting
Imagery rescripting often goes differently than described in books; clients keep being reflective, struggle with loyalty and guilt find it difficult to focus or experience anything at all during the exercise. In this part,

Wednesday, August 16 Fine Tuning Chairwork
9-10.30am CET Chairwork with coping modes
In this part, chairwork with coping modes will be discussed and demonstrated in a step-by-step approach, offering the participant a detailed understanding of the mechanisms of the intervention and ways to make it more effective.
11.00-12.30pm CET Chairwork online and parent modes
Addressing inner critics with the use of chairwork might involve placing the chair outside the room if the critic is very strong and negative. Online therapy makes this part of schema therapy more challenging. In this part, the use of chairwork in an online format is demonstrated.
Thursday, August 17 Demanding and Guilt Inducing Critics
9-10.30am CET Demanding Parent mode
Addressing a demanding critic requires a different approach as compared to a punitive critic. Furthermore, demanding critics can be convincing not only to the client but also to the therapist. In this part, a strategy will be discussed and demonstrated how to work with demanding critics effectively.
11.00-12.30pm CET Guilt Inducing Parent mode
Loyalty and guilt are one of the most frequently mentioned challenges that schema therapists are confronted with when doing rescripting or addressing the inner critic with chairwork. In this part, a clear and comprehensive approach will be discussed and demonstrated on how to deal with guilt feelings.
